aaaaahhhhhhh!

I had a fab time in Bruxelles with my two 'long standing' friends Bridget and Caroline!

This is what we did!
After a two hour, champagne filled Eurostar trip, we took a taxi to our hotel. We did a little unpacking etc and then we walked into the centre of Brussels and found a sports bar where we watched the last of the Ireland/Scotland Rugby match! (WTF!) Bridge and Caroline only happen to come from Irish backgrounds and are a bit partial to a spot of Rugby. One large 'pression' later, we carried on into town to a lovely 'arty' antiquey part of Brussels called 'Sablons' whereupon we had another two grand pressions! When was the last time you saw the black and white minstrel show? Still going strong in Brussels!

Apparently it's some festival for charity where they dress up as African kings!

Then we went and ate in a local restaurant, and had vin rouge. After that (hic) we wandered around the centre of Brussels enjoying the sights. After a while we came upon a fantastic bar called 'La Mort Subite' (which means sudden death). More pints later- along with free tastings of the Belgian specialities beer 'Lambic' and 'Gueueze' we made our way back to the hotel for a drink at the bar!!!!

The next day, we got up late, unsurprisingly. It was a gorgeous day so we went to the park in town by the Royal Palace and ate hot waffles and drank coffee. More cultural walking....

And of course 'le mannekin pis'

We came upon a flea market and stayed for a few hours and more beer!

Back on the Eurostar with more champagne and more tutting from the business people on their laptops.

I have taken some photos of some great Belgian grafitti - I will upload them another day.

And finally.....

It's climaxed!

Glad you had such a good time Luce. I'm disappointed at the lack of sprouts here (sorry, I couldn't help myself) - but lovely pics.

That little mannikin is pissing right on the head of the man with the Paris cap.

And the amaryllis is beautiful.
Very Georgia O'Keefe.

Hey there,
Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates.
Or, you could chill out in the Brussels sunshine with multiple pressions - sounded wonderful!
